> For the complete documentation index optimized for AI agents, see [llms.txt](https://docs.arete.run/llms.txt) or [llms-full.txt](https://docs.arete.run/llms-full.txt). A markdown version of this page is available at [/privacy.md](https://docs.arete.run/privacy.md) or by sending `Accept: text/markdown`.
This notice covers **docs.arete.run**, the Arete documentation site. It does
not replace any hosted-platform terms that apply when you use API keys,
catalog access, or deployments on arete.run.

## What this site stores

The documentation origin is a static Starlight site plus a documentation MCP
function. It does not create Arete user accounts and it does not store wallet
keys.

- **Pages and markdown twins** are public. Fetching `/llms.txt`, `*.md`, or
sending `Accept: text/markdown` reads the same published content a browser
  would see.
- **MCP search** (`POST /mcp`) looks up a build-time `docs-index.json`. Query
strings are used to rank snippets; they are not an Arete account login.

## Analytics

The HTML docs load PostHog for page views, autocapture, and session replay.
Requests go through this origin's `/ingest` reverse proxy to PostHog's EU
endpoint so the project key is not called from the public tracker host
directly. If you block the script, documentation still works.

The MCP descriptor, OpenAPI document, and markdown twins do not include the
analytics snippet.

## API keys and credentials

Account API keys and publishable keys are issued on the hosted product
([arete.run/keys](https://arete.run/keys)) and stored by the CLI under
`~/.arete/` on your machine. Do not paste secrets into GitHub issues, this
docs site, or MCP tool arguments.
